the way i understand the law is that you are allowed to send and receive any air rifle you like provided you are allowed by law to hold such a weapon. ie 12 ft lbs etc. the law states that any purchase of air weapon must be conducted face to face. there are gun shops which are still offering a personal delivery sevice by one of their own employees in there own vehicle which gets around this! there would be nothing to stop you purchaseing an air gun from the usa or timbuktoo however where the law gets sticky is that you could not receive the item directly from the retailer as this is classed as mail order and subsquently outlawed under the vcr act however there is nothing to stop a friendly foreigner that wont relive you of you shiny new gift to post the item to you. this is classed as a private transaction and is not covered under the vcr. points to note that you could be subject to import tax on your purchase and in my experience this can be sometimes the difference in price that they get in the states anyway. hope this helps

I raised this issue on an American airgun forum.

I don't think I got a straight answer.

All they would say is they'd ship 'em labelled as spare parts when , in fact, it was a complete gun.

Presume this makes HM Customs a bit less interested in the contents of the box.

Suspect the exporter doesn't care as presumeably they are not breaking the law in the country of origin, but you'd reckon the only way to legally receive it is for it to arrive via a RFD.
