whin 463
i start mines the minute they are weaned they get hare roe heeds see dead animals eat skinned meat then they get a bit training to chase fur over small fences bushes and by the time they are 5 6 months watch rabbits getting netted get to mouth them etc and get them going by nine moons usaly but all dogs are diffrent and all people are to, some less educated others have no ferrets or no paitience, i let them c plenty dead plenty fetching then tallyho , c a few expierence dogs but no strange animals all same kennel mates , then gradualy let them go , Quote Link to post
sean.t 0
5 and 1/2 months are you mad? Not only do you risk injury the dogs bones wont develope with its muscles corrospondingly and your dog will never reach its full potential if you run it before its atleast ayear old to 14 months. Sean he seems to be fine kid..he now is big and strong and never has disappointed me...some people wait till there older especially the bigger breed dogs as there bones would have not have set and are prone to injury.... i have read some books people stating different things.ie bill dotherty book startes his lurchers between 5 and 6 months. but i start mine when i think there ready... as i have said my fella has never got injured and is now pickin em for fun....is a very healthy.so each to their own kid... this is my opinion so take it as you wnt...i think sayin my dog will never reach his full potential is bull lad....he took 18 the other night at his ease.... regards IP I personally wouldnt start mine that early but there your dogs and you would know what to do with them, maybe the odd rabbit when their that age wouldnt hurt but definitly not the bhoyos Quote Link to post
