who believes the big cats are here then.

Recommended Posts

I am like you grant, i was quite the skeptic but just seen to many odd little things lately I would not rule them out.

But the obvious question is what type of cats are "we" seeing & obviously this must mean then that they are mating & having litters so this then means we have our own native species of cat ( other than the scottish wild cat that looks like a normal pussy cat )

I think it would be totally visable to have them producing litters but then you have to think why the hell has no one got any real good proof todate of a large wild big cat in the uk.

I have been looking into this for a while & seen some research with a skull found & a couple of videos but there not 100% atleast the vids anyway, but during some research i was looking at domestic cats & there are some reasonably large pet cats like savanahs which when adults weigh about 40 pound so could we be seeing pet feral cats that over a couple of generations have just grown to fit there habitat, obviously to to panther size but like lynxs etc maybe they have even mated with some small non native species, then you start to look at how large a wild cat area is & it can go upto several hundred miles which is quite big to say the least... its possible though & farmers aint making up all those kills, alot of sighting are along old railway lines.

Who knows & will we ever until someone brings some good proof.... Good topic though

There are supposed to be wild cats along the old railway lines on Dartmoor near to a certain wildlife park that used to be very run down.

Where abouts in the country did you spot this cat grant? i have been trying to make a map up of reasonable sightings.

at the risk of sounding crazy, whenever i go wild camping in secluded spots i allways see odd signs that get me thinking... i would love to go on some kind of expedition to really find out for 100% if there are big cats out there but it would take alot of people ( probably a forum full hint hint??? lol )

Sorry to hear about losing the sheep mate, & you said how many you lost feck me thats alot.

I dont see how a dog could do this & if it was it would need a pack of dogs & you would think being the distance you are from the field you would hear something...

So sceptics what do you think could have done it?

where's the blood from the kill? when an animal is consumed including the innards, opening the paunch releases a fair amount of blood. the carcass looks a lot older than overnight as well. just from the pic i'd say the carcass was dragged or placed there. the kill site should show signs of a struggle and the blood released. also a single big cat couldn't eat all that in one go not even a lion or tiger. they'd only eat about 5-10 kg and cover the rest for later, a single dog could be as much if it were a large one. w/ a completely stripped carcass like that genuinely done over night, i'd be looking for two legged predators.

had a fella in northern Virginia when i was a kid, he'd go into a pasture at night w/ a small sledge and a chisel. he'd use them on a sleeping cow. then use a battery powered saw to take off the hind quarters. later he moved up to a small chainsaw because it let him work faster. no one ever heard him and he was within spitting distance from some farm houses (100yds). he never got caught until he got an old tow truck and started draggin the whole carcasses out of the pasture.

I have given the facts as they occurred, you don't want too accept them thats up too you, I fed these 24 hebs at 7-7.30 pm,they're waiting too go up too the ram this weekend. I did a head count, all there and accounted for. Fed the 7 pigs in the next field put the 24 geese away. Walked the dogs up too check the wives horses som 500yds up the farm. Getting quite dark now. Put the GWP in her kennel and fed her, and checked a sick ewe in the stable block. I'm now a max 50 yds from the field. Entered the house about 8.15. Our yard dog is out and free in the yard. And as I've said a rabbit farts at 300yds and she goes off on one.

6.50am leave house too feed pigs and let the geese out, walk too the ewes field just too cast an eye over them and this ewe was as she was in the photosome 30-40 yds from the gate. You can rubbish as much as you want but these are just the facts. I have made no claims, but I do have aproblem. The thing that i consider is with the abundance off ground game and pheasants and, believe me theres plenty, were deemed insufficient to satisfy. I've said before we are remote and difficult too get too. We have some neighbours though these are quiet sensible proffesional types, and we are sort off aware of each others habits so too speak, anything unusual and we phone. I along with my farming neighbours keep the fox population etc well within check. the pictures were taken by a friend off mine, did Burma and all that years ago, at about 9.30am. No blood no guts no nothing but whats in the picture. Also we randomly lamp, my mate has a night scope and apart from the boar we have never seen anything unusual.

Really is a mystery whats eating your sheep and i hope you find out/stop it!

I have seen what i am sure was a cat, it was a big cat but not a big cat, slightly bigger than my 15inch spaniel

i believe what are seen are either hybrids (Kellas cats) or the exotic cats that are non-native and kept as pets Savannah cats etc...... i dont believe there are true big cats , puma's and leopards loose in teh UK.....i do thing that there are potentially the smaller exotic types of cat loose, kept as pets and allowed out/escaped/dumped?

there are also a type of cat called Maine Coon, which is a pet cat that is twice teh size of a normal puss........

my current thinking is that it is Maine Coon's,Savannah cats and other exotic pet cats that make up the majority of these sitings

aren't some of these exotic pets leopard cat hybrids?

not a cat expert but honest and know what i saw, the more i think though it is probably a type of these exotic pets?

the one i saw i only saw in sillouhette so couldn't tell the colour but the outline was definetley cat, and when my spaniel was stood in the same place thecat was taller than her!
