laguna is just the name of a line of kennel club registered pedigree whippets which have been bred for many many years, mainly for hare coursing with the whippet coursing clubs before the ban, they were probably the most famous and certainly one of the most succesfull lines, (amongs other very good lines)

very hard to get hold of a pure laguna now, off the breeder mrs B G, although many many of todays whippets have some laguna blood in them,

hi the laguna afix is only a kennel name own buy the late mrs dorrit mackay witch where manly show and coursing breed dogs of very whippety aperance and well under 20 inches now her daughter is the named holder of the afix and breeds mainly show dog but also races some to me the laguna whippet is dead and gone the laguna line is behind most the good working whippets being breed now

to me most whippet with even a bit of laguna in the line are being sold as laguna whippet but a true laguna whippet will of been breed by mrs bg or a friend with her over seeing the breeding there is far better than out there laguna personaly i would not touch one as it been that long from they have been tested full in the

stick to dogs you have seen a produce the good in the field urely that better than any kennel name

lagun is a name that people all know and thats why it put in adverts

also mate, to be a genuine laguna the whippet would have to have the correct paperwork (kc docs) with the laguna affix, on its registration document. best place to get a proper laguna would be off the breeder herself, then you have the real deal. i used to be a running member of the east anglia whippet coursing club and the east of england whippet coursing club, for about 5 years and know the breeder, i saw many genuine lagunas run, they were good and had plenty of speed and stamina, its not that long since genuine lagunas were tested to the full, by mrs bond gunning herself, they were ran with the clubs right up untill the ban 2005

remember this is running under coursing club rules, giving the hare fair law (slip) in winter, in lincoln norfolk suffolk, on good hares, anyone who has seen this for themselves as i have will apreciate how good these little dogs are within there own rights,

sooty sams grand parents are laguna................................... sooty sam is a mix of shalfleet nimorodel martinsell and laguna, he doesnt have the laguna affix neither did either of his parents

Sooty Sams sire was Black Lance his Dam was Gilscar Soft Whisper.

Grand Parents were Laguna Leezer X Blue Sued & Martinsell Sweet William X Fine Lace.

Great G Parents were Laguna Laquer X Laguna Xmas Carol /Laguna Lennox X Laguna Larripus & Ch Shalfleet Silent Wish X Martinsell Sweet Briar / Laguna Lennox X Laguna Larripus.

so he isnt a laguna, he has laguna in him.

PS I AM NOT KNOCKING SOOTY SAM, OR THE BREEDING as i have three whippets sired by him, all of which i purchased directly off mick, ,myself, and three pedigrees in front of me now :signthankspin:

i have seen only two whippets work in the lamp so i am not really able to speak from great experince seen them take rabbits and have a go a something else. i do not doubt their courage i have seen lurchers with whippet in them its just when i use a 25.5 inch 65lb plus dog to kill foxes on his own and he gets a bit of a buffing from time to time i would just not be keen to slip a 30 to 40 lb 20 inch whippet. not that they may not be prepared to have a go but just the beatiing they could get doing it i like a quick clean kill and a dog that is going to dominate i do not like to see a dog get an eating even if it is up for it. when i think of whippets i think of the ultimate rabbit dog day and night no disrespect is your dog of mike browns stuff robert.

you are right mate they are not suited to fox and if fox is you choise quarry there are better dog for fox there is no way i would say a whippet is a foxing dog but really a great rabbiting dog and if some thing eles comes along all well and good and ever better if you dog takes it i dont like seeing a dog get a bashing my self

my dog is of very diffrently breed to mikes dogs no sooty sam in him at all he is of jolly nippy racing lines the bitch ann brought over here with her put to a barnsmore dog out of painted pony stock fly my old dog the brindle below was out of this mateing i never mated fly to any thing till he was 6 year old and had proven he was good enough ann add him into her lurcher line i then mate him to a amarican breed coursing whippet bitch witch my precent red and white dog is outta i got what i wanted out of this mateing
