question about a rat catcher .22

Hi all i have had a .22 rat cather which takes them 2 small gas catridgers, the think is i have just bought a scope lamp yesterday for 90 odd quid and think to my self is is worth getting a bitter gun so i can take out rabbits a little bit further away. any info would be grate, if yous say my guns shite which i no what could i get for around 300 quid to do the job..by the shot my first bunny of the yr last night just [bANNED TEXT] it went dark.. :gunsmilie:

are you bothered what type of air rifle as you would probaly have to buy 2nd hand to afford a pcp. where you would probably be able to pick up a bsa ultra or a scorpion or a air arms s200 with a few added extars if your patient enough to wait. if you want a springer you could get a bsa lightning xl which would be fine for what you want and well with in budget. adam

no ratcatchers have very low power and should realy only be used at very close distances on small quarry like rats although many people do use them for rabbits. so if i were you save up buy a decent pcp and you wont look back as they are easy to shoot (no recoil, nealry silent with moderator) adn will be full power so can get thoses 40 yd shots.

sounds good mate, you can tell i am new to hunting etc, need to take the bunnies out at about 40 yard before they run off, if you no what i mean, where do you thinks the best place to get a bargain.

Ratcatchers are meant for close range shooting ONLY, 20-25 yards MAX. They are lower powered for a reason, so that they are less likely to do damage when you are shooting in enclosed spaces such as shooting at rats & feral pigeons in farm outbuildings.

 

If you bought the gun for any other reason, eg, shooting rabbits, you are going to be very, very disappointed for the most part I'm afraid....
