mattydski 560
Just sat having my toast before i go out shooting this morning. And i was really enjoying my Thick sliced Warburtons toastie, with butter and Marmite. Strange, why was this is important to me?. Well in trying to keep costs as low as possible in the house over the last year, we have tried the cheepest brand of everything the supermarket has to offer and forraged, shot, caught as much food as we can. Cheap beans-no problem Cheap tomato sauce-bring it on. Tesco's strongbow equivalent...bearable Even given up my Tetleys Tea, for own brand.. The list goes on and on.... But just recently, we tried supermarket medium sliced white bread..... Quite frankly i cant cope.. We actually fell out over it.. So she gave in and bought me Warburtons again So whilst i'm out, please ponder over what you couldn't live without, or what you couldn't replace... Or perhaps even cheep little gems of products you have found you might like to share with us.. Matt

Can't believe anyone still uses it it Me: things that just have to be the best are, yes, toilet roll, (you can't blow your nose on the tracing paper! LOL) bread (Allinsons' Wholemeal), real butter, good quality fresh veg and decent sausages.

artic 595
We've changed our baked beans for tesco own brand, and mainly just buy what's on offer instead of planning meals - cook what's a bargain and make up new recipes. Plus loads of game to get through too. Instead of putting the heating on this winter, we've decided to shag a lot more or when we get too tired put on an extra jumper. We've still got to collect our 1/2 a lamb from our farmer soon so that will stretch pretty far!

mrs sweepy 0
I never put my heating on before November and i always turn it off end of Feb. I cant stand the room that is to hot. And all year round even if we got snow my bedroom window is open. If we get cold at all we just put more layers on. And you cant beat curling up on the sofa With your other half to keep warm . xxxxxSuzy

skycat 6,173
What is this 'heating' you are on about?!! All we have is one open fire: and lots of dogs to keep us warm! It's surprising how a room full of dogs keeps the temperature up even when the fire's gone out in the morning. LOL
