McSparkie 0
Coming back from my wander round the fields. I have a weak (white(ish)) lamp attached and played it around as I was making for the exit and notices a pair of amber eyes looking at me. I noticed that if I saw one, I mostly saw both, so figured it was a preditor, not prey species. It was larger than a rabbit, but smaller than a decent dog. When it ran it was a smooth gait, not hops. The thing that was most remakable were the colour of the reflections - they were a pronounced amber in colour. Rabbits reflect back mostly white or slightly yellow and sheep come back pure white in this lamp light. The local cat was being shy, so I couldn't do a spot check (geddit???) on him and we see quite a few foxes round here too. Any ideas what I was (not) seeing? Quote Link to post

McSparkie 0
Odds are a Badger or Fox! I haven't seen any badger sets, so looks like I have an explanation for why the bunnies were so scarce that night too. Quote Link to post

tote 856
I'd say fox, cat's eyes appear greenish in the beam. Must add i've never seen a rabbit's eyes appear white in the beam. Quote Link to post
Freddy Watts 1
No I wouldn't have said white for rabbits but I agree on the fox theory probably a young one if it looked small and hung about long enough for you to get a good look at it. Quote Link to post
