johnskevena 0
I am thinking of getting a lurcher or two in the near future and would like know if ye could advise me on the best lurcher book available on the market that would give a beginner like me all the information i need to know about the breeds and crosses and training them from a pup as i would like to do a bit of homework on lurchers before i get one. The main quarry i would be hunting would be rabbit and foxes. I had a lurcher before when i was young but he never recieved any training and would like to do things right this time round Cheers all Quote Link to post
tricky dicky 0
Hi John I started up last year pretty much the same as you after having a lurcher or two some years back i got involved again & bought & borrowed a few books I found Jackie Drakefords-Understanding the working lurcher & Plummers The new complete lurcher to be informative & entertaining reads, both have useful ideas & info but as always no one persons views are gospel but they do give you a good base to start on & make your own judgements Regards The Chimp Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
I don't know how good plummers books are but i read one line of that book and put it down..........i quote "To teach a dog to sit apply pressure to its hindquarters and say repeat the word sit"(or along those lines) now I don't know what others believe but that is the wrong way to teach sit and can damage dogs if done to forcefully, so the rest i disregarded.......................that jackie Drakeford book is a real cracker though definately one for the shelf in my house!!!
