dead ferrets

me and a mate got some ferrets a few months ago when thay were six months old,both pole cats hob and jill

 

he had them out of there hutch yesterday playing with them,then gave them some cat food...

 

went to the hutch just now and there dead???????

 

he says there been a cat in the garden near the ferret hutch,could it have gave them a illness that killed them

 

the cat didnt get in the cage so he dont know whats happend and is gutted

just phoned him and he says he ran out of cat food and gave them some cat biskets (spelling) i gess that will have killed them by swelling them up???

 

Did he make sure they had lots of water?.WAS it hot?how big is the hutch/cage?.

can you give us more details such as the conditions in their environment and general health /well being,what exactly was fed to them,any small observation you can remember will help,it's odd that they seemed fine one day and dead the next.Try to remember any details as even the most unimportant detail may hold a clue,and i'm sure someone will suss it out for you,sorry you lost them mate,

cat biscuit would be no different from ferret biscuit in as much as swelling up when wet, more than likely not enough water given and dying of thirst, twice as much water needs to be given if feeding dry
