springfield 20
After landing some good ground a week ago and no work this week,My self a ferretting partner George headed over on monday afternoon,I was also keen to try my new aquirred Jill off of Ratman on this site ~ Thank you Mick ~. Speaking to the gardener he told me there had been upto rabbits seen in a field. He also mentioned of a professional shooter coming to the ground or had been there,The owners were keen to clear the rabbits due to there horse riding and being members of the great britian team. Some hedges where densly cover in brambles. We picked a hedge we saw occupied.I took the side and netted where possible and had my Whippet Bow with me for anything coming out the rough. After entering a jill we quickly accounted for 3 rabbits.George missed 1 through a un-detected bolt hole on top hedge.Further along the hedge we had a few more.1 bolted my side from the cover and a chase by the dog and the rabbit getting away.A minute later a rabbit boltted from the same hole this time no mistake by Bow catching it 10 - 15 yards from hedge. We ended the afternoon with 8 in 4hours.Pleased with how the jill worked. Wednesday saw us arrived at 9.00 we picked a hedge and afer spending 20 mins beating back and setting 25 nets my side.We entered the jill we could hear some thumping,But no boltting put the second jill in a withing 30 secs 3 rabbits bolted my side. The rabbits were boltting al my side and I even got a sweat on.George dog ferret had a rabbits cornered but we got some funny readings. We later found out there was a electric cable feeding stables running through the hedge and that was the problem. We caught 10 from this hedge and both missed about 4.After finshing up on another set we ended the day with 16 all sold to the butcher. Some pics below not great but was busy today not all 16 in pic as mate was still gutting about 4.
