The short answer is no, walking will be fine for it. I suppose you shouldn't believe everything you hear. ;)

And maybe the rest of us shouldn't believe everything you post. :icon_redface:

i think if you get a pup in a fitness programe you can knacker them up!! but as for general health and fitness let him be a pup!! play with it, socialise it and show it as much of life as you can,a well socialised pup will make a better adult dog...work on its general obedience retreve etc etc the dog will tell you when its had enough....

Walking on hard surface is no good for a pup.Galloping and playing is very neccesary at his age.He should be at least 15months before you run him for work as growth plates are still not set until then. Why dont you look up rearing a Greyhound and read what the pros have to say.If youve got a large running dog you have to do it right or will be hurt for life and you wont neccesarily even know about some of his injuries.

never heard tht "runour".... certainly hasnt stunted my pups growth (collie/grey x saluki whippet grey) standing at nearly 27" TTS (probably at his full height now)

That proves the rumour your dog would have been 37 " inches if you would have known

Well we would never let one of our pups go to someone who said something like,"I will walk it 5 miles a day"!!

You CAN overdo walking with pups. All the nutrients are used up replacing energy instead of promoting growth. A mile is plenty of walking and only once a day, or every other day. Let them play in the garden and / or with other dogs, when they have had enough they will lie down for a rest. Leave them alone until they want to play again. Serious walking is not for pups.
