ferreting and longnetting

went out on my local golf course for a couple of hours this morning longnetted both sides of a hedge had 7 (6 in the pic 1 had mixi) and i lost 2.... not a big number but keeps the ferrets out and dogs fed so im happy

So i am amazed you managed to catch that many WITHOUT the footline of the net secured tightly to the setting pegs.

just the way i do it rolfe could you show me yours i dont really do much longnetting just learn from my mistakes

The footline must be secured to the setting pegs ........see picture to give you some idea.....just loop the footline around the peg before you push it into the ground.

That was my thought first time I saw the pic, but when we used to go catching hares the nets were always set like that and it worked ok

I know an old boy been doing it years works his nets the same as hunt4life works fine for him.

 

Rolfe in my opinion your net is to high and the top line could be a lot tighter .
