fergie 0
Well I had a litter of 11 kits we got rid of 10 and kept a hob. After they had gone we had a couple ring up they had rescued one from an abandoned house. they had taken it to a lady that told them it was fine so they called me to try and get him a mate, the couple brought him round and straight away I knew he was under weight it had ticks and fleas to I washed him, front lined him and cut his nails gave them some advice on feeding him and they went away happy. the next day the phone rings and its them asking if I would go look at some ferret kits with them so I agreed and on arrival I knew these where no ordinary kits they where jet black with a white/ cream mask,. After speaking to the owner he informs me they are a 100% polecat. After a while they buy a 10 week old Jill to go with there albino hob kit. we stayed in touch then last weekend they ring me up would ii be interested in taking the two off them as they did not realise how much hard work they where well I new the black Jill was from good working stock and she was gouges so I calmly said yes of course I will . Inside I was like a six year old a Christmas. I have now got the two ferrets and can not wait to get her out although her colour has changed a bit I now think she is more a 50/50 polecat/ferret when I get a minute and I can get her to stand still I will get a picture up of her for you to see. She is fast and I mean fast. But she doesn’t seem to run like the others they run in bounding way and she just sprints hope that last bit made sense. Iwill add her that i do not care if she is 100% 50% or 0% polecat she is very good looking ferret and i think she will be a great little rabbiting machine Quote Link to post
stubby 175
I often wonder if people are getting polecat colour and polecat mixed up with each other, the ferret is domesticated, and we have all sorts of colours, one of them being "polecat" it comes in many forms, ie dark, light, I even have some to what I would call polecat silvers, but its still a ferret Im not trying to knock what your saying fergie, but the guy that she came from, was he sure of a difference, surely 100% pure polecat, would make it "wild" polecat marked ferrets do differ from other ferrets, so some keepers could well belive they have a 50/50 or 100% polecat, when really, its just a ferret as an example, here's a picture of one of this years kitts, its bred from a little silver jill, and a big polecat/silver hob Quote Link to post
