everyone has their own personal tricks when it comes to ferreting, just wondering what these are, lately i tried a new trick which was purely experimental, when putting young ferrets to a hole they wouldnt go down, so i slid my hand in the whole and rub it along the floor to the entrance (yes i was wondering if my scent would stop rabbits bolting but hey it was an experiment) it turned out the ferrets went down first time every time and it didnt stop the rabbits bolting in the slightest which is what really surprised me. so whats peoples little tricks and traits?

I use a mk1 finder in a case, trouble is, you can't read the depth reading sticker when it's in the case so I tipp exed the depths in roman numerals on the edge of the wheel under the normal numbers on the sticker (because they're made of straight lines so are easy to draw with the little brush), that way you can read the numbers off the wheel whilst the finder is still in its case and you don't get it covered in mud/wet etc. Doesn't help you catch more rabbits but might help the finder last a bit longer. I've never seen anyone else do it but it works ok for me. :whistling:

I also always put the ferrets in at the low side of a warren, don't know why I started really but they always seem to bolt well with the ferret coming uphill. It might not be necessary but it's just a habit I've got into over the years.
