FIRST NIGHT BACK

Recommended Posts

Well after all the incessent asking at work, i decided to head out last night for a quick lamp with my regular lamping buddy, we headed off down the road and see two foxes in the one field but the cattle and sheep made it difficult to keep a track on them, and we decided to let them go for another night

So we headed to where the first problem was been caused and spied foxy in a small field behind the shed where the ducks are kept,

this fox has been lamped before and made off down along the track to the little bit of scrub in which we lost it, And my buddy said he'll try and cross the road to make back to the large forrest. So off we speed in the landy to get a better position and wait. after about five minutes we turn on the lamp to see it about 150 yards from the forrest and i get the scope tracking foxy is running to make for the cover but our time in ambush is not wasted as i ranged an average of 180 to 220 yards along the side of the forrest so i'm dialed in, now on with the caper  foxy makes his way up and just as its about to go through the ditch my friend gives a little shout and foxy freezes for a split second.........pressure mounts on the trigger and a BANG rings out across the still night.......followed by THUMP.........foxy laying dead a vixen, and ranged at 204 yards......the bullet was placed where i wanted it to go slightly behind the front leg.........We're on the score sheet........ :clapper: After seeing a few more but too dangerous to take a pop at we decided to head for home turf.........As we were going in the lane to my mates farm he decided to give a lamp and two were in a field with the cattle....one in plain view and one behind a clump of heather barely just visable.........

Plain view foxy made of like a rocket and wasn't seen for dust, however we concentrated on no. 2 and it wasn't making a moveso we lay in wait, suddenly it bolted and ran like the clappers to cover of bracken and STOPPED.........silly bugger decided the sprint must have tired it out and just lay down........a quick range made it 317 yards dialed in and squeezed of the round.........THUMP.............no. 2 in the bag......a dog :clapper: Who's a happy camper, I am........ :)

Shot's taken with 58 grain v-max........ upon looking another strike just behind the shoulder...............ye ha.......what a night......
