Whats the best condition for lamping foxes, someone told me after rain as they`re out drying or soon after harvest on stubble, we have alot of maize on our farm so i think they`re all in that it`ll be gone soon though

Not sure about the after rain bit but in my experiance with foxes yes a freshly harvested field does seem to attract them.

yes when the fields have been cut is good. but to be honest it can be a number of different nights.

gone out with friends some nights and have seen a load then on others where the nights have been the same weather and not seen much.

i think it depends more on the time they say a fox takes the same track around his ground every night. i would say the best we have found for us is around midnight when the sky is full of cloud.

when thats the case the night is very dark when the sky is cloudy abit of wind to just make sure you face into the wind otherwise he will smell you a mile off :gunsmilie:

ive had this discussion a few times with friends what people dont under stand is foxes can go for days with out eating same as badgers and they seem to no the weather forecast in advance they dont come out every night like people think though you will always see one or two out on a night these are the ones what have missed the main nights of the week or are cubs still growing i believe its down to atmospheric pressure and temperature the warmest night of the week with cloud above and if possible a bit of wind i have been out many nights for foxes foxes have there territories you can go out one night and see a load go the next night to the same area and see the odd one or two or nothing why they say after rain is foxes dont 100% like going out in the rain unless forced to ( hunger ) and after rain its rich pickings worms slugs mice which also dont go out in the rain and can do days with out eating picking the right night is hard but i hope this gives you a few thoughts to think on

all the best
