Geoff.C 0
Nice one Jasper. After a bit of poking about, I found it's the payload which makes the Navara a commercial. As it can carry over 1000kg, that does it. The DVLA write down the payload by 45kg if you have a permanent "Truckman" type top fitted, but the Navara still is rated at just over 1000kg with a top. This probably applies to all the large pick-ups, but is probably something potential buyers should check up on. You may buy one and find that it gets taxed on emissions if the top takes the payload under 1000kg.
lancer 13
i think its only the single cab pick ups that will be classed as comercial, so expect to pay 410 for a double cab;its going to afect alot of vehicles from 1990 onwards, happens in january i think. Geoff.C 0
it is changeing in january all vehicles from 1990 Actually, I think it's March when the changes occur. But, it's about the new 13 emission bands for cars regd since 2000. To the best of my knowledge from recent research, commercials are not included, so the £180 charge should remain. That doesn't mean that Darling won't jack it up a bit though! I hope I'm right, or there will be a lot of very unhappy pick up owners if the charges revert to emissions based rates. (would be about £415 for a Navara).

I don't fancy paying over £400 for a silly peice of paper to display in my window just to keep the Govenment happy ..... I love the Nav but it'll have to go if this happens ... Ali N 0
dont think it matters if it is a single or double cab, as long as you can put more than a tonne in the back you are safe, and reagrded as commercial., loose the fancy tops, dont tell the tax man and stick with Ifor, and you dont skirt around the limits
