merle24 61
My friend has a colliexgrey x salukixgrey its a 10 month old bitch quite mature in her ways but wont chase any thing he has drooped bunnies for her in the day and on the lamp. He took her ferreting this morning and bunnies where bolting every where right in front of her but just doesn't wont to chase. Any advise on how to get her running? Leave it a month mate dont let her see a thing fur or fether, when you take the other dogs out leave her in let her whine and moan if she does just egnore her, when you come back just chuck the odd bunny in with her DEAD leave her with it, after a month or so take her out with another dog something steady but KEEP HER ON THE LEAD AT ALL TIMES dont let her off let her watch let her see the other dog running taking rabbits but DONT let her off, do this about four five times or untill she starts to show REAL interest pulling hard at the lead and whining yelping to be let off, when she gets to this stage you will know she ready, she will keen up iam sure mate sighthounds are natural chasers its strong blood, just time and paitence, what ever you do dont hit her or you will knock her back even more, especially as there is some saluki in her they dont react well to rough treatment, nor does anydog for that matter. good luck. skycat 6,173
How long has your mate had the pup? Has it been out and about in the field since it was young, or has it just been stuck in a kennel most of its life? If a young dog doesn't have its brain activated whilst it is young then it can take an age for a dog to wake up to what is going on around it. Quote Link to post

sighthound1811 6
my greyhound bitch was a bit wary of chasing live quarry when i got her at 9 month old but the best thing i ever did was let her have a go at a few rats..after that she was raring to go ..just a thought ...all the best ..cheers chris.. sighthound1811 6
the humble rat is always worth a try to bring on a dog in my opinion , quarry that bites back without to much danger to the dog..all the best mate..chris Quote Link to post
Dan_Jones 7
Well just think mate , When you learn to drive ya cant just jump behind the wheel and go .. you have to have someone show you how its done . Get another worker out and let the pup watch how its done . I know people will disagree with me on this 1 but .. i Sometimes have to bring dogs by lettin the worker run after the rabbit then lettin the pup chase her then shell soon think ' here i think hes chaseing that brown hoppy thing infront , i want to play ' lol She ll soon cotton on a few nights after that Quote Link to post
