My wife's Border bitch doesn't bleed at all, only a slight swelling. She's had 3 litters. Your bitch may well be having normal seasons without the usual signs.

good way to tell, is rub your fingers hard just above her tail, and when she ready for mating her tail will curl to the side, thats what ive found when there ready..i would of tought 18months is a bit young , but hey that just me..

All of my bitches do that and they are all neutered...even my dog moves his tail, i dont think thats a definate sign of readiness :)
