you could lift the lid by simply holding that nice silver bolt you put on, get rid of the handles, that'll reduce a bit of weight

Iv got a box made from 4mm ply....couple of coats of varnish and its strong enuff to sit on......much lighter than using half inch mate......its unnecessary weight.....might feel light but when its got ferrets in and ya carrying it for an hour ull feel it lol
