Now either you and Paul L are very old or have great taste! Kossof,Ralphs -something very haunting about the Free /Bad Co sound at times. Again Eric Bell ,the Gorham/Robinson partnership when it was on form was distinctive .Moore might have been a better technician but there was something too clinical, too "standard guitar hero poses 1,2 and 3" about his Lizzy stuff. Peter green .I saw him supporting one of the great n famous guitarists a few years back. Mr Great n Famous did'nt miss a note ,brilliant dislplay but, Oh so boring. Cocky sod ended with ",I shall be giving autograghs backstage later !." Ole Pete gets wheeled on with his supporting (literally) band of greybeards. He bummed notes ,but ..he gave a performance that left several of us saying ."It makes no sense but this has been one of the best concerts we've been to". Then of course Fast Eddy has a lot to answer for when it comes to deafness in the middle-aged!

bunnysniper 0
Have people really suggested Paul Weller + John Squire?????? Can only assume they're die-hard Mancs or they've been smoking too much!! While you're at it why not give Francis Chuffin Rossi a shout!! Takes all sorts I suppose! In my opinion (ooh this long-hand typing is hard work!! )............for spine-tingling soulful making their instrument sing kind of stuff I'd have to go for........Ritchie Blackmore, Angus Young, Gary Moore et al. But for the technical twiddly stuff it would have to be a heads-up one on one fret-wa*k-off between Steve Vai (seen the duel with the devil in Crossroads?) and Tony McAlpine. That Jap lad on the Youtube clip someones posted can't half bash one out too!! If only for the fact he was blind that lad who plays on his lap too, can't remember his name.......anyone? Then of course Fast Eddy has a lot to answer for when it comes to deafness in the middle-aged! Spot on mate there is plenty of technically gifted players out there but they lack something....some of these old school guy's play with their heart and soul and it translates through their playing....Joe Perry from aerosmith can be sloppy at times but he know's how to rock out a solo....Peter Green should be knighted in my opinion phenominal player.....Michael Schenker is also good....and Richard Thompson could bring a tear to a glass eye....Think folk have covered most of the others...Oh! Ted Nugent mad as a hatter but fantastic guitar player.....Johnny Marr or John Squire couldn't lace these guy's boots.
