dwighet 1
Got my first goose today.. I was driving the young lad out to his mates house this afternoon and noticed out the corner of my eye a flock of birds feeding in a stubble field..I didnt hink anything of it as young Gary had the car stereo up to the last and the trafic was kaos.. It later clicked to me that they were too big to be pidgeons...F*&% me I said.. There graylag geese.. So I dropped Young Gary off and I think I broke a land speed record to get back to where they were and indeed geese they were... So then it was a quick 4 mile trip to my house...As I entered the sitting room my Mrs thought I`d won the lottery or something and all I could say was Geese, Geese down the road, stubble field...They just dont understand do they So I got my 12 gauge and a handfull of 3inch bb`s and drove back to the stubble field...They were still there so i parked up and stalked along a fence line that led me to around 40 yds of them..after some time I spotted some coming in to land with the rest of the grounded flock and the rest is history..Down one fell... As ye can probably tell I am still pumped about my first goose... They dont hang around these parts for long so I consider myself very lucky to bag one... Well thats enough of me raving on..Keep safe and happy hunting Dwight

tom1cameron 1
Congrats mate. It looks a cracker! The first goose I ever bagged (that was not a winged pink on the tideline), was a greylag as a late morning small pack flighting into the Ythan, cooked it up in student halls of residence in a belling 2 ring table top oven! Boy did I eat like a king at uni, but the cleaner did not appreciate the woodcock hanging in the shower! Still a few greylags around skene, I shoot some fields north of Inverurie and there are the occassional one or two with the skene pinks. But they are more consistent flighting to turriff/huntly area from somewhere else, maybe strathbeg or the coast.

I get home in 2 weeks so the gear will be coming out i havnt been out this year yet so its something to look forward to on my time off. happy hunting hesko
