agrifabs 0
has it got a hydraulic clutch? if so, this is the problem, i had a freelander with a hydraulic clutch and i had to 'pump' the peddle to get it into gear, pain in the arse, if it is hydraulic then it will definatly have some sort of header tank - very small though, normaly situated on the bulkhead, put some brake fluid in the pot, and then pump the peddle loads, please bear in mind though that this is not a 'fix' because it wont take long before the fluid has leaked out into the gearbox again, but first things first you should determine if it is hydraulic of not chris
Geoff.C 0
Being unable to select any particular gear, is usually a gearbox problem. In your case, having difficulty with all the gears is most likely a clutch problem. I'm sorry I don't know the fourtrack so will have to generalise. If the clutch is not slipping (revs rise under acceleration but not road speed) it's probably ok on the plate and cover etc. If it's a cable clutch, this could cause problems as you describe when it's seizing up or out of adjustment. If a hydraulic clutch, it may just need bleeding, or either the master or slave cylinders are defective. Pumping, may temporarily get the clutch to clear while you grab another gear. Last idea, on Land Rovers and some other large 4x4 types, the clutch release arm wears in the bell housing, this results in lost movement so the clutch will not clear. Usually a gearbox out job to fix that.

I wouldnt agree with the guy above, check your gear linkage, it happened in a car i used to rag around a field the gear linkage was slipping out of the ball joint and the gears wouldnt engage properly. (If it doesnt have a hydraulic clutch) if so, re-bleed it.
