New HMR

Still not 100% happy with it: no real surprise its on it's 3rd moderator, second mounts and second scope and second type of ammo, but it is now about a month old and fired about 250 rounds; and the barrel is about right...so out tonight to check the zero again.

105 yards (there was a dip in the ground at 100 so I moved out a bit), couple of clicks and ended up with 3 touching shots...happy with that  , but.....about a quarter inch low and right....got to head off but no problen ..one click each way when I get home and job done!!

Start to clean the gun and check base mounts, 3 out of the 4 manage a fraction of a turn..everything else fine...bother!!, go to adjust the poi, elevation one click, windage...f**k me what happened, spun it errr, eerrrr how many clicks :hmm: ....don't know...looks like I need to check the zero again!:doh:

what do you feel has been the best mod so far deker , is a sak good enough or is a caliber speicific to HMR alot better ,i dont want to pay hundreds but around a hundred but im expectin something special at that price. at the moment i jsut have a .22 mod on and does quieten it alittle bit but i seem to notice alot of muzzle blast when using it at night.

Though I don't have and have not tried one, I have a pal who has £140 worth of Wildcat rimmy mod and rates it the biggest waste of money ever on his HMR saying the SAK is better!

I am still not happy and have the Sirroco SM11 (Edgar bros distribution) at the moment! Started with a HOG, very good for the 6-8 shots it lasted until the HMR pressure started blowing it apart...do NOT use!!!! Borrowed a SAK briefly and perfectly adequate (Jackson Rifles suggest they will last 10,000 rounds on an HMR :hmm:) Tried a couple of CF mods but the weight becomes a problem even though they do have the edge on sound moderation...so still looking myself for a sensibly priced, low weight, effective mod for the HMR.....has been suggested to have a word with Mr DM80 (Dave Mercer)!!!

I would, by the sounds of things he's all tooled up and ready to go with the new DM80S HMR moderator - I had a mail from him when I asked about changing my Hornet mod to 223.

I have a DM 80 on my 17 HMR and its far superior to the SAK :icon_eek:

Out today checking the zero yet again...seems it only needed one click right...I think....quite still today but this time I was at 115 yards and the best group I could get was around 30mm (1.25 inches)...down to the occasional gust of wind...f**k me this is hard work getting this spot on!!!

I know it may seem strange to many but I am simply not comfortable with it yet, the confidence is not there, even though it is very close, I do not have the belief in it yet to grab it out of the cabinet, go shooting and know it will do what I want!!

It's the new CZ Silhouette in HMR with 20inch barrel (available in 16inch barrel as well), I already have the CZ Silhouette in .22LR and very happy with it.

Nothing wrong with the gun...just me and confidence...it is a budget package, JSR 4-16x44 Mill dot Target scope, Sirocco Mod, and sweet as a nut...all in including a slip, sling and extra magazine under £400...excellent VFM! ( I did push hard on the deal) Oh yes....the trigger was s**t compared to the .22LR (original trigger) so went direct to Eric Brooks and bought the trigger upgrade, £8.32 delivered!!
