new dog

i got my first dog the other day and he is a wheaten cross greyhound.. today i took him out for a good walk and when he came up on rabbits he wouldnt try hard if they were near the ditch.. he spotted them fast enough alright though but i dont know is he lazy or just knew he wouldnt catch them.. could anyone tell me how they are for rabbits on the lamp or give me a few tips on the breed.. thanks.. john

A mate of mine had one years ago,a touch on the heavy side said it lacked pace,good luck with him though

i have got a wheaten whippit greyhound shes just right for rabbits 22 inches ruff coat, and amazing speed and turning ability, got to work on ther finding ability, shes hard for a little dog, very quite in the house but shes had fox and cat single handed

How big was the cat :D

 

mighty big lol, no average size no tigers or nothing like that shes far to young :haha::D

thanks for the tips.. took him out today with a fox terrier cross and had a bit of craic though.. he can run alright i found out and he was good to watch the cover where the terrier was.. so he was smarter more than lazy.. his last owner nursed him back to health because he was nearly dead when he got him so he is doing well.. lokks into the light and will bring a ball back on the lamp if i throw it..
