"The Hunting Life"

Recommended Posts

as i said 1% out of a hundred i said their is a minority of good .

but 99% bad .not looking for any sympathy nothing that is my overall opinion of this site  better of buying a book

Well matey, sorry you feel that way......if i were you i would leave....

No point in visiting a site you obviously do not like, with 99% of people on it "Bad!"

No point at all.....

Just let me know when you have tidied up any loose ends you may have and i shall gladly terminate your account to save further upset.

Kindest regards...JD

That was a bit harsh JD dont you think? the guy's expressing an opinion and giving his experience of coming in here instead of lambasting him why not give a bit of encouragement I for one think if we had more people like smasy on here there would be a lot less bitching....but thats only my opinion

Not at all....Everyone is welcome to express their opinion, but if they dont like the site to that extent (where 99% of people are "bad") theres 2 options...

#1 Leave...

#2 Stay and contribute to make the site a more fruitful and enjoyable site for all......

I am not lambasting anyone, but merely pointing out , if someone doesnt like the site, then either change it or go and moan somewhere else....

Why would someone visit a site they find so distasteful?......Apart from to add more negative comments?

JD - he's just giving his opinion, I didn't see him asking to be deleted.

He raises a valid point which perhaps the mods should take note of. All the time, there is complaining about questions being asked that have already been answered previously. That's hardly likely to encourage us to post. If I want help or advice, I PM someone I trust on here or post it on moochers. Not here, in case I have inconvenienced everybody. This is supposed to be a forum. At some point all of the questions will have been answered and if no one asks them anymore, would it not all grind to a halt?

Smashy is one of the good guys and a relative newbie to lurchers, and has asked for advice on several topics which have run to rows about whcih of the hardened old boys' dicks is bigger, or that old favourite "who is the gimp?" and the ensueing boring so & so is gay, I'm you're gimp, you're my bottom buddy, haha aren't we funny. :icon_eek:

This is a forum, for the discussion of topics. Smashy is discussing this topic. Isn't that the whole point????????

But surely we should be encouraging members like smasy or any newcomer to the site giving him the option of either liking it or lumping it is hardly encouraging im my view. Some of the topics in here having been quite vitriolic in their content at times with hardly a word from the mod's but as soon as a member who to my knowledge hasn't said a bad word about anyone in here say's something negative he's given a limited option...thats unfair in my book.

Smoggy you the orginal thread poster, created a very good thread I agree with your initial post 100%.... but as for people coming on here, yes darcy I agree with you... if I have an issue with a site then i simply don't use it, yes theres bad on here, but theres good too... thats the same in every hobby, interest, location you live, etc, etc ...

Look at peoples threads and posts, you will see a trend of who actually posts genuine constructive posts and the ones that are antagonist's looking for people biting and to cause disruption.. you don't have to look that far..

this site is nothing more than people hunting people.

the amount of help ive found is vurtually 0% and if id like to ask genuine questions or awnswer genuine questions .im faced with i post too much think i no too much because id like to try help somone starting out .the best thing ive found on this site is to keep my opinions to myself.iam now wondering why hunting was banned in the first place .because dog people in here cannot be civil with each other ,so how would they ever be civil enough to keep hunting alive

1% good 99% bad .

any better site anyone no off

1748 posts since march, surely it can't be all that bad in here...? :hmm:

I agree with your thoughts on 'dog people' though. There's far too much bitching goes on in the dog sections, but you don't have to read them, or reply.

Smashy asked for some advice which turned into another load of accusations and rubbish which has dis-heartened him. It's not the first time it's happened to him, and it does happen to all of us at some point on here. It's natural enough to feel a bit blue, I hope he just needs a bit of recovery time to lick his wounds and hopefully he will get back to posting away as usual!! :)

99% of it is not bad. 99% of it is good, which is why we're all here. But it is a bit daunting to post a topic asking for advice. This is because of two things,

1) So much of the time, older members (therefore more experienced) and some of the Mods, complain about the same subjects being brought up. We should do a search and find the answer to the question we want to ask. This is fair enough, but you have so many new people joining every day, bringing wih them a wealth of their own experience, and us who are living with our dogs and ferrets and new situations arising that we have to deal with or learn from, then it seems a pity to actively put people off from posting questions. If everyone stops asking, or answering, would it not defeat the point in having a forum at all?

2) There is a little contingent of bully boys on here. You ask and get ridiculed in response. It's not big and it's not clever!! :big_boss: So stop it!!!!

THL gives us all something, or we wouldn't bother. There is a real mix of people on here, a few bad, but mostly good, and as they say "variety is the spice of life"!! :thumbs-up:

no i dont work for various maltenby

but i think if you read threw my posts i think it will be hard to see me pulling somone down for no reason .i may have argued with a few but if i have 90% will be out of humourous banter with likeminded genuine people.i wouldnt just go out to labal sombody for what they are not for any reason.

i have liked to come in the forum to give people my genuine help and experiences .

i work my 5 dogs all year round day in day out and 3 of them are rescue dogs.so not here to argue call people names pull them down for trying to help a lad starting out ,i would be the first to help as i no what its like .i hve owned dogs for 19 years now fare enough i only hve worked them for 2.but 2 years knowledge can help somone with none.and thats all ive tried to do in this forum if its not liked somone has an opinion their shouldnt be threads for people to have an opinion .of which would mean that the site would no longer work  knowledge is free people should use it

i have only posted the odd thing in the dog section & got replies to some stuff i posted & none to others, but i do read a fair bit off the stuff on there, i agree theres a small hardcore of '' self appointed experts'' who basically like the sound of there own voice

One particular little lad who could start an argument in an empty room , what a moron

Living the hunting life,, to me means,, Enjoying the countryside from what we can get out of it,, whether you live on a councill estate in the middle of town,, or a cottage in the deepest bit of countryside. In a time such as this when we are currently under prying eyes from the antis,, goverment and the public etc,, we are to busy moaning with each other. About who should kill foxes,, lurcher boys or rifle boys,, Hunting boys, or digging boys,,

Dont you think the antis are more organised than us, hence why they got a bill through.

The hunting life...in general (not the website) is a lifestyle - and somethings thats bred inside you..............its in the bones of you.

To say its a hobby, or pass-time dosn't do it justice. For me its a passion - a passion for hunting, a passion for the great outdoors and what it has to offer - a passion that trickles its way into every part of your life.... what ever discipline you use,

Spot on mate well said

For me, finding THL was like "coming out" ... I can say I enjoy dogs killing other animals and people don't call me a sadist or a pervert...there are others like me...

But seriously, it is a great site and there is a lot to be learned and shared here. On an international level. Some good pictures too! It seriously helps to get through the boring work days I have at the moment.

The hunting life to me means just that a way of life revolving around field sports of all kinds , Example a good wind and a dark night snares are out, A passion iv had ever since i was a kid,

The dogs are favoured or possibly the long nets ,A hard frosty morning your visualising certain rabbit setts and netting them up in your mind ready for the ferrets ,fishing and shooting i do as much as i can at least once a week now it used to be more ill blame old age for slowing me down so i doont get out as much :whistling:

As a passenger in a car,you will probably have done the same thing, im forever scanning the fields as we travel looking for game. Often getting told off by my partner rose as she knows what im doing and she will say this is my time your with me not on some moor lol. I love everything about the hunting life and iv made some really close friends from this site who share a similar intrerest there are good and bad elements in every walk of life but on here the majority have been all genuine. There are a lot of youngsters on here now asking silly questions over and over :wallbash: but hey think back we were all young once and exactly like them cogratutulations Ian and the mods for running a site like this long may it continue :good:
