"The Hunting Life"

Recommended Posts

THL filled a gap for me when I moved. I missed where I was, the hunting, my friends and work, and it made me happy to come on here and read everyone's stories and what they were up to, whether I knew them or not. I didn't feel so "out of it". Despite me only having this account since June, it was about last september when I first joined, and it had been, (and was) a bit of a rough patch.

I've made some very good friends through this site, and of course, run ins with one or two real b@stards. But then I reckon it's the same as everyday life, there are good and bad apples in every barrel. The one thing it did make me realise, whcih I didn't before, is that not all hunters are fighting from the same corner. I used to believe we were all in this together, people with the same passion, whatever their means or preferences for manner of hunting. Since being on here, I see that there is still the same class distinctions and prejudices made as there are in the "real" world. :wallbash: If I could chose, I would hunt with hounds every day of the week, but I've seen responses from people on here, "Us and them" and that's referring to those that follow organised fox hunts. That's sad. I think I would have preferred to remain deluded!!

Apart from that, and too much testosterone on occasion, it's a great place!! :clapper:

:clapper: Although a lot of those class preconceptions are complete bollocks. I live on a council estate, lived on various different ones all my life, yet I follow the local hunt with as much passion as any landed gentry. (& I'm not the only one either!)

My point exactly, Maltenby, all sorts follow the hunt. I scratch around trying to exist, selling this and that on ebay to get shoes for an ancient old horse, have about 4 little jobs I can cart the baby round to, so we got food and diesel, and yet, occasionally on THL, I'm still one of "them" :clapper:

Wish I bloody was!!!

to some of the real reasons hunting is as it is today .if you havent been doing it 30 years on here your nothing.and for the new guys that come in they get no help 90% of the time .

now if it was the oposite way around the table would possibly turn but for the young people that join this site 90% of the older no it alls will put them of before they have begun .

The hunting life...in general (not the website) is a lifestyle - and somethings thats bred inside you..............its in the bones of you.

To say its a hobby, or pass-time dosn't do it justice. For me its a passion - a passion for hunting, a passion for the great outdoors and what it has to offer - a passion that trickles its way into every part of your life.... what ever discipline you use,

but 99% bad .not looking for any sympathy nothing that is my overall opinion of this site  better of buying a book

Well matey, sorry you feel that way......if i were you i would leave....

No point in visiting a site you obviously do not like, with 99% of people on it "Bad!"

No point at all.....

Just let me know when you have tidied up any loose ends you may have and i shall gladly terminate your account to save further upset.

Kindest regards...JD

That was a bit harsh JD dont you think? the guy's expressing an opinion and giving his experience of coming in here instead of lambasting him why not give a bit of encouragement I for one think if we had more people like smasy on here there would be a lot less bitching....but thats only my opinion
