prohunter 0
i was wathcing the television the other night and saw a cooking program, to cut a long story short they said the best way to kill a rabbit with a air rifle was to shoot them just behind the shoulder is this true. i am not an experianced shooter i prefer going out with the dogs but every time i have been shooting i shot the rabbit through the head. Malt 379
Now I'm going to play devils advocate here! A correct heart/lung shot will kill a rabbit just as quickly & humanely as a head shot. However, it is good practice to learn to shoot for the head because of a variety of factors. 1) Less chance of wounding with a shot to the stomach or any other non vital area, that could lead to a slower, painful death. If you shoot at the head & miss, then 9 times out of 10, you will miss completely. 2) Spoilage of meat. A head killed with a head shot, will leave the entire carcase fit for consumption. A shot to the chest area will result in massive internal bleeding, often making a mess of the front end of a rabbit. There are probably more reasons to choose a head shot over a chest shot, but I cant think of any at the moment! Quote Link to post
