When you get them,straight away debone them,then get a jam jar and fill it half way with mets and shove the tail down into the meths,seal and leave for 5 weeks,i have done this thousands of times and the tail will NEVER rot.My mate has a tail I did over 10 years ago,a little more blonde but still perfectly preserved.

no sorry for my bad humour .i beleive borrax is a good preserve ,used it on a deer foot for somones walking stick

Ive always used meths. If you want to keep it looking realy full and fluffy befor you put it in the jar get a knitting needle and stuff the brush full of cotton wool or a piece of wooden dowl. It does take longer to get rid of the smell of meths but its worth it.

we always use meths in a jar, works for us .

After its been in Meths,massage tons of washing up liquid into it,this will take the smell away(and make your hands soft!).
