rickardo 76
do you think a falcon would be able to catch mallard if slipped out of the hood? i ask cause i have a few duck around on my land but i dont think it would be suitable to fly one waiting on.... Quote Link to post
jasper65 6
Its going to be a hard one mate but when it comes to stamina a Gyr x Saker has plenty, once they get them wings rowing they can soon knock up a good rate of Knots! the best thing mate is to get him fit and suck it and see, go for it and if he fails nothings lost but if he succeeds you have plenty to gain.... I just found some old pic's of a Gyr x Saker I had off Lenny Walters in 95, I'll get them scanned and put on but he wasn't as big as your bird and topped around the 2lb 5 mark, he could also be a straight liner sometimes if he checked on a pigeon.... I meant to post my bit on your other post about wild Hacking! there's advantages and disadvantages. the latter is he could well have caught stuff in the wild that you otherwise won't be flying him at and check at other quarry, the other is perhaps taking stand sometimes which shouldn't matter that much unless you're making him into a gamehawk. The advantages is you will have a pretty fit Falcon from the off which has already piled on a bit of muscle, the other is he would have already have found his Wings and Powers of flight includeing height and obviousley if he's killed some experience on certain quarry.... He does look a cracker though Rickardo .... Jasper Quote Link to post

Are you saying that your bird has topped at 2lb 7 - 8? then if you are I didn't misread it mate as mine was 2lb 5 fresh out of the aviary and got going on Rooks/Crows around 1lb 13 - 14, if you're talking in Grams then its way over my head as I'm still Lbs and Oz's....
