I usually leave cuts and keep a very close eye on them. Bathing with Hibiscrub is a good idea if they are mucky (this is still cheap in tack shops, but gone up in price in chemists). If it's looking like it might need abs then straightforward Amoxycillin is fine. Synulox (Amoxycillin trihydrate/clavulanate) is the mother of all Penicillins to kick ass more severe skin infections I find. Tis epensive though. :icon_eek: Do leave that one for when you really need it though.

If there's a risk of infection use penicillan, especially with animal bites.

What's more important than the brand is that you get sub cutaneous and not intra muscular.

Two and a half CL is what I give a terrier and if after a day or two he needs another I give one and a half.

This mightn't be correct but it's what I've always done.

thanks every one for your help, just one more question what dosage do i use and how long for.

thanks again ATB TD

Dose will depend on the dogs weight and to an extent how bad the infection is. Next time you think you need antibiotics go to your vet, and if they are required then see what dose they prescribe for that dog, if they don't prescribe then your over-reacting so think twice the next time.

As mentioned above synolux, co-amoxicillin, is a good broad spectrum antibiotic suitable for bites etc.

A quick mention the more antibiotics are used the quicker the bacteria will evolve imunity so please use only when needed!
