I personally reckon the only thing a Deer hound cross is lacking is a knuckle dragging gorilla on the other end of the lead

i went to a lurcher show other day for the 1sttime in yrs . and al i seen were poor deerhound xs and it got me thinking what does a deerhound bring to the table in the modern lurcher world. i think they have been destined for the show circuit and for red rossettes . some thing evolve but the poor old deerhound has evolved into a show specimen like jack russels in crufts. all the best and hope to have some replies from bill ps dont get al starry eyed cos there better dogs nowadays

This is obviously a wind up right ?

I know a particular Deer hound x that would be up there with any dog in the country, Ive seen this dog do all sorts big and small, And for you to say they are really just for shows is feckin mad.

This dog is one of the cleverist dogs at its chossen profession ive ever seen, And at around 7 years old with a excellent litter of pups to its name it still brings food to the table, As do the litter.

Over and out !

Not knocking any type of cross, but if you are saying Bull X are superior to Deer, take a look at the number of cheap arse Bull Xs going and compare it to the number of Deer Xs!!

See quite alot of these hard as nails Bull Xs that will take on anything, but look at the nick of their faces, alot of them take an absolute kicking in the process. Deerhounds aint surgeons in the field but from what I have seen they generally get the job done quickly.

Spent a fair bit of time looking into this last year before making my decision to go with Deer X. But in the process of finding the right litter I was offered at least 10 bull Xs from different folks replying to my adds.

Strange why no one had a spare Deer X going.

I know that they are the best alrounders but I dont want an all rounder.

I know this is a bloody wind up so why am I even replying.

Im taking the dogs out..............

havent seen many deerhound croses run in the field, but i own a couple of bull crosses and i use to run fallow quite a bit with them before the ban, and to be honest they couldnt really come to terms with them in the open field, of course you always get the ones that bounce of fences etc, and if your running out of a motor thats a different thing all together bull crosses would excell in that situation. But im one for walking fields and for this i dont think bull crosses are the best for the deer, and i would imagine a deerhound cross might do better =@ . This is just my opinion so no nastys please, maybe the bull crosses ive seen run on the bigger stuff might be sub standard to other peoples. :D

well i own a deerhound x and carnt falt her at all. she will take any thing from rats to deer. soft as claggy toffee around the kid`s and ferrets, but in the field a killin machine, they are so laid back easy to walk and imo has good feet for any ground they run on. and i have seen a few bullxes work and they are not for me always gettin bitten but never pull off. but i wouldent have 1 coz i wouldent trust them around my kids but thats my opion.

p.s if any 1 is after a pup with deerhound in it, i have 1 dog left out ov my litter
