Guest mickyrich
the next post has got to be "the dog run hard all night " ...........in my expierience (preban) a lamped hare would run straight up the beam into the light , one farmers collie waiting to catch it . i've witnessed a lad catch a hare by the neck using this method . and here we all are (except me because i'm a c**t ) praising the efforts of a nights slaughter of a dazzled animal . where then is the respect for the game we are hunting ..? i'll tell where the respect is .......it is in the f**king numbers game !!!!! bring your collie i'l take you out mate if you got nought decent to say don't say it Quote Link to post
Guest bitsa lurcher
listen pal , this an open forum so i'll say what i please , i don't agree with lamping hares pre ban or otherwise and i will state my opinion . i don't have a collie .....read my post again it says "farmers collie" and the whole point of why we took the collie out was to educate a young mush who thought it was clever to lamp hares ..... he learnt a valued lesson and has since had some respect for what he hunts ........old school values pal ..... i'll allways stick by them Quote Link to post

Guest bitsa lurcher
you must have plenty of hare where you live / hunt ?? not so many of them around here that's why it irritates me when people go on about lamping them and killing loads of them in one night . Quote Link to post
Guest hunterpoppy
that seems a bit to mutch like i wouldnt of went that far i would of left them for the future personaly Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
Depends on your viewpoint...if it's stictly for numbers then it's wrong but if your being asked to clear them or if your permission depends on it then you have no choice....just out of curiosity mate how many did you miss? Guest mickyrich
plenty of hairs where i go if i don't take them with my dogs in healthy numbers maybe he just might go to the gun lads to see what they can do Quote Link to post
Guest wex
excellent nights work there micky, thats some hard graft for the dog, hows it bred by the way, keep getting out and putting game in the bag thats what owning a lurcher is all about TOMO If micky came on,said I took 100 bunnies last night people would have been falling over themselves to pat him on the back and buy him a pint,if he took the hares on land saturated with them, farmer wants the numbers down, any means, then whats the hard time for?His permission, his dog,his hares, his conscience surely?Does he dererve to be vilifeid for that? Well said gents, far too many sharks in these waters . cheers wex Quote Link to post

undisputed 1,664
i was always told that a long eared rabbits were easy taken, at nightso iv neva tried them, so truthfully, how hard are they? I would never say a hare is easy day or night....maybe easier but never easy. As for hare's running down the beam towards a collie well, I've seen foxes walk/run down a beam and rabbits for that matter,,,its usually the inexperienced one's that do that but once they've educated to the lamp its a different matter. Guest archiet
Perhaps this isn't the place to ask this but here goes ,throughout this thread there's people who have praised and people who have stated quite the opposite to Micky's dogs feat, well what i'd like to know is especially off those against Micky's achievement is when buying a pup how do you go about it? Myself would go to proven hard working parents ie:dogs that have caught plenty for example dogs like this,i assume you folks would make do with any old mix even a labrador x oven door not so much the coursing folk but even still i'd hazard a guess and say the most renowned coursing dogs are those that kill 5/5 and such not out every now and again killing the odd one and the ones killing most are the ones which people want dogs from so i'd like to hear more so from those appeasing Micky's dog and his haul as to how/why do they go about choosing a pup as i've said for me it's proven grafters all the way and not this one for the pot dogs. Thanks Quote Link to post
