If its the guys dog, on his permission, and he is taking game humanly, then thats up to him...people can have an opinion, and do as they like, surly?...

Best ive had over here is 12 hares, and 17 rabbits, and 3 Gray Fox on an Indian Reservation...that was with my male Staghound when he was about 20 months...a great night.

Kye..

Best ask your self can the area take 22 hares being killed?? If so fair enough I suppose, I take the odd one or two as that is all the population can take locally.

Slaughtering game for no other reason than to see what your dog can do, smacks of a young blood thirsty person who's not a Countryman. I hope the hares were put to good use....

Bunch of TOFFS, your have some issues markbrick   I suppose in your eyes everyone hunting a pack of hounds or pheasant shooting is a toff.... :bad:

Makes me wonder how some people get on in the countryside it really does.

You are right though it is better than mugging grannies, but a lack of repect for quarry really fucks me of and I am sure most real hunters feel the same.

to be honest havent been in this game long .but i cant see a problem, the fields are cut these feckers aint as slow as some people like to make out, and most certainly get a better chance against a dog than a gun.and would personnaly prefer to see an animal run against a dog than sit out in a feild and be popped of for fun anyday

ive been in the country side all my life i own two farms and my mothers family do as well as my son in laws family, ive had lurcher many yrs had gun dogs and my father at 76 still has lurchers,i cant stand the people who come into the country set up syndicates buy all the tweed and speak with a gob stopper in there mouth most farmers would have genuine lurcher folk on there land as 1st priority :victory: not have hare shoots are pheasant drives :clapper: but its now a financial way of the countryside they bought there way in not being country people and there the ones that blame everything on lurcher folk farmer lost somthing.......lurcher lads etc etc you know nowt about me reload so dont pass judgement on my history cheers mark

I was talking to a guy just last week who was part of a keepers shoot at six mile bottom that shot over 900 hares in two days !! So I can't see the problem in lamping a few with the dogs. In answer to the origional question, I've had two in a night, but that was by accident, when lamping rabbits; I personaly prefer daytime for hares, pre ban, of course !

Cheers.

There is a chance he was lying and that might have been back in the day.

I'm not saying I wouldn't take a lamped hare, just prefer them daytime. The hares where I encounter them must be good'uns, 'cause no collie would take them !LOL !! And if you are out after a bag of rabbits, all a hare does is tire your dog out and lessen you chance of a good bag of rabbits ! There are times when me and LDR go out for specific quarry, but that doesn't prevent the odd "accident" !! LOL !!

Cheers.
