Lot's of good stuff on there. sounds like you need to buy a collar off of strong stuff for the transmitter. I went with the B + F. you get a 5year guarentee and it's been tried and tested by I don't know how many digging men.

I have got the Ortovox Patroller handset and it works with the other company`s collar perfectly .

Dev, they are all 'avalanche' safety gear mate.

 

All work at 457 khz ( i think thats right ) but on the same frequency any way.

 

My 'box' was a lot less than the Pieps system ( which B&F supply )but having said that, in my opinion, B&F aren't ripping people off, they are selling Pieps at a reasonable price and one that is competetive with other suppliers.

 

Best thing to do is to google avalanche/ski safety eqpt and see what you come up with.

I paid £287 for my B&F in 2005,and imo it,s been worth every penny,i've heard a few people moan that it takes too long to pinpoint a dog but i think that half the time they're worried about the dog coming away before they can find it let alone dig to it.If and when the time comes that i need a new locator then i would probably try the Ortovox but feel that if B&F hadn't brought out their system we'd all still be using the mk1 deben as they didn't up their game till B&F got involved..Choose what you want but imo both are a vast improvement to Deben who are the real rip offs in this particular market...
