.223 supressor

Recommended Posts

hi lads, just wondering if any of you own or fire a .223 with a supressor, whats the advantages and disadvantages with one on the .223,and what make and price are they. Thanks

the advantage is you dont go deaf from the noise mate ! it will help with recoil to and is a must really if shooting at night in a area that as other house close by.

your be surprized how much a mod makes a difference on them. a t4 mod will be fine to use or some people go t8.

i myself perfer the ase cqb mod a front mounted mod which is 5 inchs and the noise it cuts out on my 22/250 is super.

thanks Jamie,

just a couple of questions,

first, the t4 and the t8 supressors,do they add lenght to your rifle barrel,or do they fit on the same way the supressor fits on the .22 rimfire,

and the second question question, how much do these cost.

Thanks

T8 is a good mod, jackson rifles should be able to help you there.

ASE make better mods IMHO, though my S5 is knackered. I got a new moderator from Country Pursuits of Rickmansworth, but AFAIK it's their own moderator so a bit of a trip.

Not used it yet, raining...

Wildcat Predators are OK also. They're all overpriced though - AFAIK the margin is something like 120%...

the t4 and t8 are over barrel mods mate they will add some over the front of your rifle. but most of the length fits over the barrel.

the ase will fit on the front like the 22lr sak mods fit.

if it was me i would have the t4 i think the t8 is very big and isnt really needed on 223. a t4 will silence it well.

as for the pictures try google mate im sure there will be some on there.

Personally I'd get the ASE Jet Z, I know it's lots more money, but the sound moderation is excellent and it's not heavy either.

Atec do a compact modular moderator which is also worth a look. Had a good look at one at the CLA, you can remove some of the baffles when used with a smaller calibre, since you don't absolutely need them. Fully assembled, it's Jet-Z size, but you can make it very dinky indeed.

I shoot a Sako 223 with a Wildcat 12 baffled as I have the occasion to shoot near livestock and horses.

Can’t fault the mod but would agree its pricy but you get what u pay for, shot with a T4 & T8 but I like the strip down capability for cleaning and a personal view the 12 baffle dose a better job for sound dispersal having shot a variety but some might disagree.

Its down to personal preference, if you can shoot a variety and make your own choice but they are worth having.

yes the ase jetz is top stuff mr l. just make sure its the cqb and not the compact you get for 22 centrefire as the cqb is made for the 22 cal rifles

I have a wildcat on mine. Good well made mod and strippable. In use it takes a lot of the loud boom away, in fact i shot a close range fox under the lamp and couldnt believe how quiet it was. The bullet didnt travel far enough to get a good head of steam on it, and make a long supersonic crack.

Couldnt say how much they retail at. It came as part of a package.
