Found this old pig sett today after looking at it in the summer and saw something has moved back in. No bedding was present but there was ONE soliatry paw print but couldnt quite work out what it was. My gut instinct makes me think piggy is back in town.

My eyes must be playing tricks with me then :icon_eek:

As for back filling, if the tube is larger than the volume of Earth removed to back fill with, then it will be nighe on impossible to back fill to any 'safe' standard, safe as in, some one could walk over it and not fall through.

What I do if this is the case is to cave it in a bit and make it look like a natural fall.

i dont agree with this statment mate, we cut sods from the edge of the field and pack the hole with them before we backfill. then put the soil back in and then cut more sods for the top. backfilldone.jpg this is the backfill of a 15 footer, you would never know there was a crater in the ground just an hour before

if there isnt enough soil to go back in to the dig,we normally just take some from the spoil at the entrance to the hole.

the trouble with people who dont back fill ,is they go back time after time and dig the whole set up ,after a couple of seasons the sets fecked and all the tubes are full of water, and it can be some time before someone moves back in ,i back filled 3 holes in one of my favorite sets the season before last only to find it had been dug again when i returned the next time ,and geuss what they never back filled again :shok: people like this have no respect as far as im concerned and are only into there dogs for a few seasons and then go back to the rock they crawled out from :nono:

Proper backfilling is an essential part of our sport for a number of reasons.

1.Preserving sport for the future.

2.Safety for livestock.

3.Respect for land and landowner.

It's hard to get permission, and lads going onto land and digging and not

backfilling properly, can quickly destroy relations with landowners and

loss of permission is usually quick to follow. And lets not forget these

farmers will be quick to tell other farmers and so the snowball will roll.
