SportingShooter 0
I heard a while ago about putting a patch of Sellotape over the end of the barrel of a rifle in the rain to stop obvious obstructions. It may have been on here I heard it, maybe not. Could anyone explain it, i.e. the Safety and Accuracy aspect. Regards SS Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
i use it when stalking to prevent crap getting into the barrel, the second the primer is struck the tape comes off, there is no accuracy loss whatsoever, only i don't use sellotape insulating tape tends to peel back easier, if not used and doesn't make a mess of the barrel, So insulating tape it should be. If you cover alot of rough ground then this is advisable as anything could get into the barrel and make life hell or worse...... Quote Link to post

Regards SS hello, i also have heard this and i was taught about it on the dsc part 1 course, apparently it does not make any difference to your accuarcy or ballistics as the pure pressure from the round as it starts its journey down the barrel is enough to push the tape of before the round gets anywhere near it so have no fear. if you have any doubts then try it down a range and see if it makes any difference. be iterseted to see if it does let us know wont you. cheers Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
you will have no problems mate trust me just use the insulating tape as its easier to get off if you don't need it....... Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
As allready stated, do this when out mooching, never had an issue with accuracy. Matt Quote Link to post
