Describe a good working Lakeland

Recommended Posts

What would your defintion of a Good Lakie be...

Size, conformation, coat, temperament, working style

Part A. In your eyes a perfect Lakeland

Size =

Conformation =

Coat =

Temperament=

Working Style=

Part B. What faults do you see in the Lakeland...

as long as it's worker to worker it don't matter Yeah! we know that, but I'm asking what would be your perfect Lakeland, what do you look for when looking for the perfect dog ???

Some pics, and descriptions of dogs you've had in the past or now would be good ??

This is aimed at people who have or have had Lakeland and are a fan of them.. the rest of you I'm starting a new thread for your particular breed...

Before i packed TerrierWork in i had a cracking Lakeland dog.

he was 14 inches easily spannable. i like the coat to be rough for the lakeland althoug my mate has shaved his pup at the moment and it looks good!

temperment should be firey but good with all dogs and stock. i like their working style to be dug until dug to. but alot i have known have killed the fox underground :big_boss: . i will root a few picks out and send them through the scanner.

cheers sniper

They've got to find and stay,i know it's a cliche, but the day that i can guarantee every pup i breed will work THEN AND ONLY THEN will i worry what they look like, and i am far away from that goal..

Well said. Did you get rid of the pups mate? wood said the one he had off you is bonkers. Whats happening with tina now?

Well ive got a lakey mate but hes still only a youngin .. just turning 1 there nowish.. hes took rats and rabbits but is very interested in fox, we have chased a couple with the lurcher and hes allways folowing or if we walk past an earth he'll through his head a shoulders down for a sniff. I think i could work him but hes still a little young.Silenthunter is going to fetch his terriers up in the winter though so i can get him on them like as i have loads of unworked earths close to me.Hope he does well.
