hi all going for my fac got my shotgun cert in January had a wee bit hassle though as i had an assault back in 2002 asking for a .17hmr what do you think my chances are

Do you mean you assaulted someone or they assaulted you?

I doubt it's the latter. People get hassle becasue someone in there Family has a record, let alone themselves. Do you hold a SGC

hi guys yes i have a sgc and yes i assaulted some one with good reason though but its a long story i only punched the guy once

Well in my eyes if they let you have the shotty then i see no reason why they won't give you the hmr.....i hope you get it ...

There's only one definitive way to find out, Apply and see what they say, you have nothing to lose, they will refund your money if they do not issue you with a certificate.

As for the HMR. I shoot a CZ 452 in HMR with a 16" Varmint Barrel. I find them a very very accurate round and devastating on the quarry it was designed for i.e. Small Vermin.

 

Best Round? It depends entirely on which round your rifle favours. Mine shoots the best with Winchester Supreme V-Max. Yours may well be different.

 

Just a case of try a few brands to find out.

 

Range? Normally your range on small vermin is fairly short, Under 100 yards say. But this little round will despatch them out to 215 yards+ ( I say 215 as this is my personal, furthest shot, I know they will go further.)

 

The HMR is a very safe round compared to the .22 LR, the small 1.1gram bullet with a Ballistic Tip is very frangible and shatters if it hits an object as small as a blade of Grass.
