Using the MK1 ferret finder

Now admittedly I was not raised on imperial measurements but I have a pretty good idea that 1' is roughly equal to 30 cm (give or take) so why is it that when I set the wheel to 1' it won't register the collar much further away than 20cm... and when set to 8' it registers to about 6'...

 

My thinking is batteries, but I have fresh ones in there... any other thoughts??? (My stupid question for today - do they need to be tuned or calibrated in some way???)

what collars are you using?

23.54mm(1") x 12 (inches to the foot) = 294.48mm =29.5cm close enough to 30cm (1')

is my math ok???

It's the collar that came with it... one is red the other is grey and the box is a 16' box... hope that helps

sometimes the terrier and ferret collars read differently, the 8' collars read double and I have known of collars to be out but I would defo check batterys and connections.

I find out when you have new batteries in them they work better and truer ,but as the batteries get used the reading can be a bit off .So i start with brand new batteries and replace them at the turn of the year
