went out early this morning for the firt time of the new season (at the spot that was most consistant last season) :clapper: with hopes and expectations of a big bag of bunnies :victory: so off we set with my new kit and my mates albino jill plus his mad terrier.....up the crags we went right up to the top so we could work our way back down as this is the best way to work this patch of ground!!! first set, the dog didnt seem too interested but this was a deep burrow and had 40+ holes so we netted up (all nets we have out and set) and sat back for a while till things settled, entered both jills at either end and watched them work it for 20 odd mins and it became apparent that they wernt working deep into the burrow allthough my new jill kit was doing well for her 1st burrow!! so we tidyd up the nets and took off down the hill...way too much cover still to do the best holes but this place is usually packin so no worries!!! well.....was i ever wrong we never saw a rabbit from that point on, the dog was no longer interested in the burrows but instead the sheep (which is one reason why hes allways on a leash) the ferrets persisted on skiming the surface of burrows so by 4 o clock we were shaterd mentaly and physicly.....no rabbits :icon_eek: not even one , good to be back out on the field but what a day ive had!!!!!! :censored: better luck next weekend i hope :big_boss:

heres a few pics of the land and the first set :tongue2:

that little thing way down there to the left on pic 2 is the erskine bridge

Know how you feel mate, a couple of hobs i got a couple of monthes ago were both angry biting b*****ds when I got em, but one of them has learned a lot faster than the other and has basically stopped all together now. the other had been handled just as much as the other at first and a lot more now, and my hands are taking more of a beating than his nose end!

Do different techniques work for different ferrets? because Im considering a different method as this doesnt seem to be working at all...
