gnasher16 30,024
Gnasher, i respect you oppinion on all things boxing as you well know mate, but in this instance we'll have to agree to dissagree. This guy was no Michael Watson, and i see no comparison with Khan and Benn,Benn was an out and out slugger, and fought most of his fights as a "tear up" he was also a devastating puncher.Khan is finished, and if im wrong i'll take all the flak when im proven wrong. If you remember i made comparisons between Errol Christie and Khan i.e good boxing skills and no punch resistance?? Glen Mcrory,Nicky Piper, and Jim Watt all said the same thing tonight and made the same comparison.Khan started to believe the hype, and thats all it was "hype" his bubble is burst and he will suffer from the fear of being tagged forever more just as Christie did. After Kaylors demolition of Christie,Christie withered away, and im certain that Khan will do the same.Your management, trainer and promotions people cant get in the ring with you, they may try and reinvent his crumbled career, but it don't wash with me.Tonight he was exposed by a very average fighter (as i predicted) and i see no way back. All the best,Bill Bill likewise mate....i value any mans opinion who speaks with the head and not the heart....most people who are not real boxing people speak from the heart which is why most of the population wanted the "cocky little shit " to get what he got....believe me being a proud englishman im no fan of khans and im perfectly happy with the result last night like most people.....however,like yourself i try to view boxers and boxing issues with the head so as much as i dont disagree with anything you say or any comparisons you make i do make you wrong regarding benn....nigel benn was much more than a slugger.....he could never take a punch from day 1...it just hadnt been exposed till a higher class opponent ( watson ) fought him.....after that, every top fighter who caught him hurt him......he simply adopted a less wild style meaning he took less chances,he stopped rushing in intent on landing his own blows which is what khan now needs to do,he still had a glass jaw it just didnt get exposed as much.......and lets face it he still had a glittering career...as did tommy hearns who had possibly the weakest chin of any world champion in history.......now im not for one minute comparing khan to benn or hearns for athletic ability im simply saying that folk who say a fighter with a weak chin cannot go anywhere are plain wrong.....and in this day and age with so many titles available i still dont feel khans obvious weakness will stop him reaching a world title....i might be wrong and hope i am because i dont like the kid....but at 21 years old its ridiculous to say he is finished.....anybody who has been in the ring knows how easy it is to get caught flush with a solid shot, thats not a chin issue its a defense issue, like i say benn had the exact same problem and your right bill you cant improve your chin....but you can tighten up your defense and khan came out like he was going to blow that man away.....and now knowing he has a suspect chin any trainer worth his salt will do what benns trainers did and adapt his style without taking the venom out and the good things he does....if this happens and he continues to learn his trade i feel he will still win a world title..... One thing that makes me laugh....how long have we listened to folk slate him for fighting bums......now he fights a decent opponent and gets clobbered people want to know why he was put in with such a dangerous opponent !......all the best Edited September 8, 2008 by gnasher16

The kid has an obvious talent, weaknesses yes,but undoubted talent.....so the minute he loses he should give up and go sign on the dole queue thats good advice.... gaz 284
Khan aint finished yet.....but is there enough bums around his weight to hand pick all the way to a world title ? Warren will need to be very carefull who he puts him in with from now until he finally decides to hang his gloves up....if you catch him flush you beat him Edited September 8, 2008 by gaz
PeakOil 352
I don't know what was more amusing, seeing Kahn brought down a peg or 10, or the look on Frank Warrens face after it happened I wonder how cocky the Kahn clan will be now? gnasher16 30,024
In a twsited kind of way that the other night was probably the best thing that could have happened to khan.....this windmill attack of his is so amateurish and one of his biggest faults from day 1.....now he knows how easy he can get caught coming in like that he will need to pick his punches that much more....i keep referring to nigel benn.....but again it was exactly the same with him and he always said later on how valuable to his career that first knockout loss to watson was..... To say khan is useless is just silly talk, nobody wins an olympic medal without having at least talent....how far that talent takes you is another matter......but i personally believe that knockout loss will in the long run have done khan more good than harm, especially at his age.....overconfidence is a dangerous thing. Well said Gnasher. All the raw natural talent in the world is next to useless, unless you have the intelligence to use it properly.
