Guest Name
Would/do you feed your birds rabbits...any game shot with shotguns? I know nothing at all about birds of pray let alone how to care for one, but i seen a post on another site saying they wanted any game that was not shot with shotguns or poisoned, well i understand the poisoned bait could course a problem but why shotgun killed game? Just got me thinking, so if someone would shed some light on the matter for me, i will be grateful. Quote Link to post
Guest Name
Can they not pass the lead shot as easy as we do, i thought about that but the shot in most carts are tiny little things. Quote Link to post
SPAR 2
copy & pasted as I cant be arse to type in out but here's a summary a medical condition caused by increased levels of the metal lead in the blood. Lead may cause irreversible neurological damage as well as renal disease, cardiovascular effects, and reproductive toxicity. Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Hows it going Name I have lost a Pere x Prairie to lead shot in the past! its a sticky one mate as if the bird has been fed plenty of casting material they will normally 99% of the time bring the pellets up in a cast, but is it worth the other 1% that she doesn't? I have been useing Steel shot on pigeons and whatever for a few years now without no problem! the only thing I have found is with steel is at range it doesn't seem to hit hard enough compared to lead so I ended up useing 32grams of size 5's and someimes 34gram loads. seems to get the job done and coming down to a larger size has leped make up the weight lost with the lead shot.... craftycarper 0
another thing of interest is how many people feed rabbit on the odd occasion to bop...now if they think to thereselves it's ok i killed it with a headshot with my air rifle or even say a rimfire then stop & think for a minute..... theres plenty of rabbit alive and kicking who have the odd bit of buckshot in their backsides...you could always try one of these, run it over your kill to guarantee its clean, i'm sure it must cover lead...worth enquiring about surely at this price... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THE-WRIGHT-ELECTRONI...id=p3286.c0.m14 Quote Link to post

craftycarper 0
doubt it very much, rabbits can live a healthy life with a small amount of shot in it, just by running your hand over it wouldn't give you any idea if it had a couple of number 6 in it say, but get a bird to eat it then its a different kettle of fish, as i said a couple of grains not a handful Quote Link to post
