bigdan 11 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Share Posted September 6, 2008 at what stage would you say a dog has'nt made it i know it depends on what you hunt but ive seen a lot of dogs blamed hes a jacker ect ect but its the owners fault not trained well enough or exercised a couple of days ago someone said to me if a dog dont catch by a year it wont i think this is a load of bollucks and they should be given a good chance what is your point of thinking enough and when is it are fault Quote Link to post

If it has a lot of Grey or Deer in its breeding it will not be mature at a year old. As for this jacking thing you must get the confidence of the dog up. Don't run it against something it has not a hope in hell of catching, rabbits going to ground being the most common. Work with it and build up its confidence. My Beardie/Grey X Working Deerhound was two years old before she matured, put her on a couple of Myxie rabbits and she has not looked back since. Quote Link to post
