bob152 0
I know some of you probably already read my introduction, but I thought I'd post these pics anyway. These dogs are what got me interested in coursing dogs. They belong to my father's cousin. I've no idea what they're made up of, other than a lot of greyhound blood. We use them to hunt coyotes. Its been many years since I've actually been out hunting with them, and rarely see that side of the family so I haven't much chance to ask about them. Quote Link to post
stevemac 433
Nice hounds bob. Funny how bush bred greyhounds have a simular look around the world. good hunting stevemac Quote Link to post
bob152 0
thanks steve. yep they all bare a resemblance across the globe. sadly seems not many folks here running these types anymore. more and more i'm hearing of folks using scenthounds (black & tans, walkers, plotts) for coyote. i partially blame the city folk coming in and buying up big tracts of land and making it private. you can't afford to have your dogs run across their grounds when they are actually there. they'll get ya for sure. whin 463
bob new mexico has ten million acres of public land arizona and texas have a fair chunk its still strong down there with coyote dogs and jack rabbit stoppers i winter there go on hunting holidays saw lots of dogs some from a n ole guy ben hardiway some home bred from other guys and some decent dogs it makes the uk seem very small some feilds are three miles between cattle grids and miles of land some thing that i cherish to me its like being in the ocean freedom Quote Link to post
Pops 19
whin Texas blows for public land it might have a total of 1 million acres but access or activities are restricted. most of my extended family lives there. if you're in the panhandle area you got the national grasslands (good running area) and there is the grassland down near dallas after that it's hard to find big stretches of public land in TX. west of TX is much better lots of BLM land in the western states. by comparison North Carolina (where the Marines have me living) is about 1/4 the size of TX and has slightly more public land over half of it open year round. unless you have money or friends TX sucks for hunting of anykind. bob152 0
New Mexico eh? I guess that makes sense, seems they got a lot of coyotes down there. don't know if I'd move down there though there's big chunks of land up here in Nebraska and up in South Dakota but ya gotta know the folks who own them. If ya go out the the sandhills of Nebraska they've got huge plots of land, ranches that are in the hundreds of thousands of acres. Quote Link to post
rolly 0
Western South Dakota has tons of public ground, state and federal. I lived out west for 4 years and it was a hunters haven. Now that the wifey got me moved to the eastern side of the state, I have to ask every farmer for permission. Quote Link to post

allgame 0
good looking dogs, wonder if there is really any difference between the american staghounds and aussie ones, all those dogs look very similar are they related to one another? Quote Link to post
bob152 0
probably related to one another no doubt. they were owned by a family who all hunt dogs, three brothers and their father so they've got a few dogs to say the least. Quote Link to post
