looks to me like grease off their bellies, the dirty b*****ds. you can allways tell where they're running along a wall because you get a dark greasy rub mark at rat height. looks like your INFESTED!!

Are they urine pillars ........as these are usually the result of House Mice activity?......or are they a build up of smear marks caused by rats?.......Maybe a clearer picture would show us more detail

yep just smear marks, as all the steps have them on, not just 1......

 

 

and here to the left of the snare...

 

 

but then, you would think they would use the flat beam to run, appose to jumping up each step....????????
