looking for our first gun!

guys my dad has just passed this stalking course and is able to get a rifle hes after a 243 some one has offered him one for £300 and id just like your opinion as we are new to this ..

its a PARKER HALE 243 WITH WEAVER MICROTRACK 6X40 SCOPE i have not seen this gun yet but i am told its been well looked after .......opinions wanted guys thankyou!!!

does he no there person selling it and how well its been looked after ?

 

get a good look down the bore and if poss see if he can have a trail with it 1st to see what it shoots and groups like.

 

if i where him i would save abit more and get a new howa that why he has a brand new rifle

Buy cheap, buy twice. Mainstream rifles like CZ and Remington are available for £450-£550 if you look in the right place, and they're new. THat's the route I would go down UNLESS you find a rifle that's clearly in good nick and you know it's been looked after.

 

If you can shoot it first, great - if it shoots well and works, you know you're doing OK
