There is a small Orchard on one of the farms which makes up my Shoot. It is neglected unfortunately but still throws out plenty of Apples every year.

I have no idea what the Variety is of any of the trees but I normally pick from one tree to eat and another to cook with.

I took a walk there yesterday in a break in the weather. I picked a few of the bigger ones, a few eating ones, a few cooking ones for a mixture and thought I would make an Pie with them.

So today, I peeled them all and sliced them thin before putting them in a saucepan, covering them in sugar so they are all coated before adding a dash of water in the bottom of the pan. They are then boiled and stewed until the mixture is very thick, sweet and lumpy.

Im sure you all know how to make pastry  Spread the mix, Pastry on top, Bake until golden. Superb!! :D :D :D

I have a few pics. No drooling now, I already had those in chat shorting their keyboards out

i think i may attempt to make an apple pie now. that looks great!

i've only ever done it once but the apples were from a can :p but i can take credit for the crust being made up from scratch, not one of those kind you buy already in a pan..

since then i have become one of those kinds of cooks that prefers to make everything from scratch with the freshest ingredients possible. i get a lot of elbowing and rude comments from family for it while i'm cooking, but everyone shuts up while they're eating.... too busy stuffing their faces, so i know the time is worth it!
