Kye 77
It IS the middle of the desert!..lol. No gates and hedges here mate...just rough rock, and dry mud and sage!..lol. Kye.. Quote Link to post
Guest freestate hunter
i was joking...but it takes good game dogs to kill a hare were i hunt. Quote Link to post
Kye 77
Peter, they would be IDEAL for a naughty young man such as yourself!...lol. Fast, BAGS of stamina, and not affraid to take a hold...Feet better than a pur Border Collie... No shit, i have run our collie on rabbits, the same place i run them Stags and she has recked her feet...touch wood, apart from skinned stopper pads, the Stags are un-touched buy the rugged terrain!.. GREAT dogs! Kye.. Quote Link to post
Guest DogFaceKillah
i gotta get me one of them dogs Quote Link to post
Straightline 0
Stick to the Saluki crosses, run Jacks just as well and don't get cut up. Plus got more stamina than the stags and when you can see the back end of your dog through binoculars still going you cant go wrong!!!!! Quote Link to post
Kye 77
The Saluki cross is the ultimate jack rabbit dog imo,...but i dont hunt just jacks...like i say to my digging buddy.."Owt [bANNED TEXT] 'air on"..lol. If im honest, i would match that Blister dog against a Saluki, or Saluki hybrid...he has done 2-3, single handed before, and has taken Jacks single handed in a five and a half minute course, and carried them back!...as for salukis having more stamina...they could have, but when these dogs are fit, they can stay...ive seen Blister slipped on 100 yard Jacks and catch them...not catch 'em quick, but he will get 'em, unless they get to the sage and come unsighted!...if there is no cover, and he is as fit as i would like him to be, he should get 'em.. I didnt get him for small game, i got him for other stuff, but he dont seem to be able to get his head around the fact that Jacks 'aint supposed to be his quarry....the naughty dog keeps catching them!..lol. Kye,.. Quote Link to post
Straightline 0
Thats fair enough and as long as your happy with your dog thats all that counts. Seen a Staghound in Manitoba and though it was o.k wasnt anything to write home about, though that was that dog. As for bigger stuff the saluki crosses will take white tails. My Moyles Capatain cross was 29" to the shoulder and she was big enough for the ones I saw and run. Not sure about the coyotes as didnt let her have a go at the only one I came across as not sure what the lay of the land was regarding taking them at the time and there were a family not far away. Those Jacks are good fun though!!! Good hunting mate. Quote Link to post
